Don Nance, Mayor

Why Don Nance for Mayor?
Friends and Neighbors:
West Monroe is our home. It is where we raise our kids, run our businesses, go to church, and look out for one another. And right now, this hometown of ours is asking for something better. The Problem You see it every day.
- The city is buried under 42 million dollars in debt while taxes keep going up.
- Public works have been cut back, Public Works has been reduced by 50% and too many basic things just are not getting done.
- Families and small businesses are being asked to pay more and get less in return.
That is not how a city should treat the people who make it work.
I am not a career politician. I am a small business owner, a neighbor, and someone who has to balance a budget just like you.

- When the money is tight at my business, I do not get to raise your taxes.
- I have to cut waste, make smart choices, and stay accountable.

That is the kind of common‑sense leadership I want to bring to City Hall. Your Vision Here is the West Monroe that you and I know is possible:
- A safer city, where every neighborhood feels like home and you are not worried about your kids just walking down the street.
- A stronger city, where families can thrive and small businesses can grow instead of being taxed and regulated to death.
- A more efficient city government, where every dollar is respected and you can actually see where your money is going.
Families, Neighborhoods, Children Every neighborhood in West Monroe should feel like a place where:

- You know your neighbors’ names.
- Your kids can ride their bikes and play ball without you being scared.
- The city shows up, fixes what is broken, and keeps its promises.

The safety and success of our children must come first—before politics, before special interests, before every pet project. If it is not good for our kids and our grandkids, then it does not belong in our budget or on our agenda. Working Together This campaign is not about one person standing at a microphone. It is about all of us deciding we are done with “good enough.”
- You deserve streets that are taken care of.
- You deserve a government that tells you the truth about debt and taxes.
- You deserve leaders who listen, who answer your questions, and who remember they work for you.

If you believe West Monroe can be safer, stronger, and more efficient… if you believe families should thrive, small businesses should grow, and every neighborhood should feel like home… then stand with me. Let’s roll up our sleeves, work together, and build the kind of city our children will be proud to inherit. My name is Don Nance, I am running for mayor of West Monroe, and with your help, we will put our hometown back on the right track.

Friends and Neighbors:
If you live or shop in West Monroe, Louisiana, it’s time to take notice. Recent reports confirm that West Monroe now has one of the highest combined sales‐tax rates in our state, and even in the nation, our small city of West Monroe is higher than Baton Rouge, New Orleans, as well as places like Washington DC and Las Vegas Nevada.

These taxes have placed an extra burden on families, businesses, and everyday spending. Here’s what that means for you: Every time you go to the store or eat out, you’re paying more in taxes just because of where you live. Local businesses—our neighbors—are squeezed by taxes, which can mean higher prices or fewer jobs. Families already stretched by rising costs are hit again by an avoidable tax. When our city adds tax after tax (including special districts and add-ons), it discourages new investment and growth.

My promise to you: I will push for transparency and accountability: every tax dollar should be clearly explained and used wisely. I will advocate for tax relief: we must explore reducing the burden on working families and small business owners. I will demand responsible government spending: rather than keep piling on taxes, we must prioritize what truly benefits our community—roads, schools, safety—not endless tax hikes. I will work to ensure fairness: if our city is asking more of you, then we must be sure services match the cost and that growth is encouraged, not stifled.
Your job: Get involved.

Vote: Make your voice heard in the next election—tax policy is not set in stone.

Support: Local businesses that face this burden—shop local, support local.

Together, let’s realign our tax burden with the values of fairness, growth, and opportunity for every citizen of West Monroe. Let’s build a community where taxes don’t hold us back—but serve us all.

Thank you for standing up. Let’s move forward together
